Beware of "The Joker"

The Hilton Head Gang is a group of notorious artists who attended Karin Jurick's workshop on Hilton Head Island.  I will feature one member of the group each week until they are all accounted for...

Week three and we are looking for Linda “the Joker” Popple.  Linda disarms her victims with humor and then shoots with reckless abandon.   Yes, Linda thinks she is funny...but her crimes are very serious.  Please be careful when confronting her.
Linda was last seen driving off Hilton Head Island wearing a teal sweatshirt and a blue baseball cap driving a red convertible sports car... She was laughing and shaking her camera at the wind.  Authorities followed her until she left them in the dust...
For more information or clues to her whereabouts check out her blog at:
These are the blogs of other HHG members...

Regula "Babyface" Scheifele

The Hilton Head Gang is a group of notorious artists who attended Karin Jurick's workshop on Hilton Head Island.  I will feature one member of the group each week until they are all accounted for...

The second member of the Hilton Head gang is Regula “Babyface” Scheifele.  Don’t let her youthful appearance fool you...she is as devious as the rest of the gang when it comes to shooting covertly and then leaving the scene of the crime.
After terrorizing the island shooting her way through beaches and galleries she escaped to the back roads of North Carolina.  She was last seen boarding a plane for Europe...her current whereabouts unknown.  This is the last picture we have of Regula...

Exciting News! For me...that is ;)

So excited that my painting "Unconditional Love" won third prize in the "Pop Art/Heavenly Peace" art show in Alexandria, Virginia!  The painting is of me holding my grandson, Jayden, just a few days after he was born.

Dorothy, eat your heart out!

This was painted for the Daily Paintworks Challenge...paint your shoes.  These are my favorite, most magical, comfortable ruby red boots.  How can you not have a great day when you are wearing a pair of red boots?  Dorothy's got nothing on me!

Hilton Head Gang wreaks havoc!

On 30 October, 2011 disaster struck the tiny island of Hilton Head South Carolina.  21 Notorious characters descended upon Hilton Head and went wild shooting everything in sight.
The purpose of this challenge is to reveal the identities of the Hilton Head Gang by painting their portraits.  The first mug to be painted will be the leader of this notorious gang - Karin “Quickdraw” Jurick.  Karin can visit a beach and shoot everyone in sight before they even know she is there.  Her covert activity is known worldwide.

If you see Karin or any member of this gang remember...they are armed and dangerous.  You may end up in a painting.

Each week another member will be featured until all members are accounted for.

For more information you can check Karin Jurick's blog or Linda Popple's blog.

Just because it makes me happy!!!

This is the first painting I did at the Dreama workshop.  She is so fun...such a nice person and I learned so very much about color and paint strokes.  Sometimes she will put a bit of pink over where I would never think to put it and she says "I did that just because it makes me happy."  How fun is that?

Sisterhood of the Traveling Paintbrushes!

Introducing the "Sisterhood of the traveling Paintbrushes" headed out to Dreama Toll Perry's workshop in Lexington Kentucky.  We had a great time!  Gloria, Yours truly, Susan and Lydia painted and laughed for 3 workshop days  Dreama is wonderful!

What cha readin'

I call this "What cha readin."  It is another 8 x 8 panel from the karin Jurick workshop I just attended.  While out taking my pictures and trying to act casual ;), I saw this lady checking to see if there were real words in the book on this bronze statue.  I couldn't believe my good fortune when she stayed put until I got the shot!  During the workshop Karin discussed placement and colors.  I was a little worried about cutting off the lady's feet, but I think it works. Karin is so very generous with her knowledge and suggestions.  If asked...she offers her opinion...and then praises your work.

I am anxious to get back to my easel and paint but first I have another workshop to attend.  Dreama Tolle Perry is teaching in Lexington Kentucky and I am so very excited to learn more!  I have the good fortune to go on a road trip with 3 artist friends...So much to learn...so little time!

Bad Dog!

This little puppy was having such a good time, but testing the patience of his owner!  He just wanted to play.  I loved the lady's yellow coat and the way she was trying to get the puppy to stop chasing everyone!

Karin Jurick class photo

Here we are!  This is the group of fabulous artists I spent a week with on Hilton Head Island.  We painted, learned, watched but most of all had fun!  Stay tuned for our series of mug shots!

Karin Jurick Workshop

I just attended Karin Jurick's workshop on Hilton Head Island.  It was fabulous.  I learned so very much and met so many wonderful artists.  This is the first painting I did from Karin's photograph.  It is 8x10...very small for me but I thoroughly enjoyed painting it.

After spending the morning painting we headed out to the beach to take covert pictures for our second day of painting.
