Painting Smiles

Painting Smiles
6 x 6
Oil on Board

I like to paint smiles..not literally but...I love to paint.  Sometimes I paint to make myself happy and sometimes I paint if I think it will make someone else smile.  If I think I can put a smile on someone’s face or take away their hurt for even just one second by giving them one of my paintings then I am happy.  I hope I made someone smile today.

  3. WOW, this is wonderful. I love the eyes and the warmth of his face. He looks like a genuinely nice person. The soft blueish grey around the face is such a compliment to the warmth of his face. You need to frame this one. Is this your husband??? Again, they eyes are so warm and friendly... great job!

    1. DaDa...It is very kind of you to want to purchase this for the Memorial on Friday. It was painted as a gift for Babette. She has seen it and said she wants it so I am very happy. I will bring it on Friday if it is dry enough. Again...thank you for your kindness.

    1. Jamie the painting is Babette's to do with as she pleases. She is welcome to make prints for anyone in the family with my blessing. I only hope it gives her some small comfort. If you need me to recommend someone to make giclee prints I would be happy to. I also have a high resolution picture if you want that.

  9. Beautiful portrait, Maria! You captured such a warm and very sweet expression. From what I gather from the comments he is a very beloved family member and you have painted him with a loving remembrance. What a thoughtful and loving thing to do.

  12. It's amazing how much he looks like a friend of ours. They could be doubles. You certainly captured a warm, natural smile and clearly made a lot of people happy with this portrait.
