Pat-A-Cake with a shadow

Pat A Cake
9 x 12
Oil on Raymar panel
$100.00

When I saw the Daily Paintworks challenge this week I knew I wanted to paint this scene of my grandson playing pat-a-cake in our front yard.  The perspective was a little different for me but I just kept "seeing" the shapes and it came together pretty quickly.  I also tried to incorporate a bit of David Shevlino's technique by not overworking my strokes.  Mine are a poor substitute for David's confident swooshes...but I am learning with every swoosh of my own!

  3. This one is good. I can tell you worked on it faster because it doesn't have as much detail, but it's really good. I think you should consider doing more that has very little detail and can be more conceptual.

  5. I love this one Memere! It captures my babe so well! I can just tell it is him. I love the simplicity of it. It makes him/his shadow the focal point. I find simplicity beautiful. Love it!
